GAPview
Because of the temperature, pressure and other physical elements involved in the process of manufacturing an inevitable consequence is the wearing of the various components
of the mill. In the case of rolling mills this wear ultimately causes an increase in the gap between the housing and chock liners which, once it reaches an unacceptable level,
causes loss of quality to the final product which can greatly affect its commercial value in the market.
Our revolutionary GAPview system takes all guesswork out of how gaps are affecting mill performance by allowing the measurement IN REAL TIME of the gaps before, during
and after the manufacturing process. This patent-pending hardware and software system allows for an unprecedented level of both real time decision-making during the manufacturing
process as well as later analysis to see how the change in gap during manufacturing affected the final product and the components that were in use at that time.

Distance sensors embedded exclusively within Corts chock and housing liners constantly monitor the gaps and send this data through field point units located on or near the
stands to the master monitoring system. This information is accessible for real-time analysis and is also stored with relevant time and date stamps so the information can be
correlated to other data (such as that created using our Component Management System). Customized alert thresholds can be set so the monitoring system proactively alerts
users of when the gap has exceeded a given distance. Used in conjunction with the knowledge an operator has in a particular mill it allows them to make critical decisions
regarding adjustments, based on the gaps, to the manufacturing process while it's happening instead of simply before or after.
Used with other data monitored and collected the historical effects of the manufacturing process can be tracked and unique, proactive decision-making becomes possible. For
example, historical data from the system may show the gap increasing over a given manufacturing run and, once the gap exceeds a certain level, the wear to the roll sets in
use increases dramatically. The real-time component of GAPview would then allow operators to know exactly when to change roll sets to prevent costly damage to rolls as well
as reducing machining time to restore the rolls to optimal condition for manufacturing.
CMS serves as a clearinghouse and repository for all the complex data regarding your important rolling assets. It also provides an integrated framework for a wide range of
services for measurement, testing, data interpretation and calibration. Integration into your existing ERP or PPS system is also an option allowing for correlation of the data at
a level not possible using traditional spreadsheets or paper tracking forms.
