Proper lubrication between plates not only allows for smoother mill operation, but also helps to protect plates from unnecessary wear and corrosion. Applying the optimal
amount of lubrication is also important in ensuring proper operation of your mill as well as reducing costs in both the lubrication itself and costs associated with the cleanup
of over-lubrication. Without a proper solution in place excessive wear and tear on the milling stands and associated parts will occur resulting in increased maintenance costs,
increased wear on liners and rolls which affects end-product quality and earlier replacement of items like liners resulting in cost increases as well as shorter times between
outages for replacement.
The Corts LUBtec solution addresses these problems by providing a system that can ensure proper, even lubrication which greatly reduces the impact of over- or under-lubrication.
Smooth operation and even wear of parts affected by lubrication results in a higher quality, more valuable end product. Also, the reduction of wear-and-tear results in
decreased maintenance costs as well as reduces down-times associated with maintenance or replacement of these parts.
Instead of typical greasing grooves, patent-pending Corts LUBtec-enabled liners are machined with precision lubrication ports whose zones are fed individually. Lubrication
is routed through these ports using progressive distributors that control both the amount of lubrication as well as the pressure under which the lubrication is fed through the
system. The result is that lubrication is injected across the plate surface evenly ensuring that all areas of the plate surface are lubricated exactly the right amount at the correct
time. In typical plate lubrication designs the areas closest to the point the lubrication enters the grooves experience a higher pressure than areas farther away, so to provide
proper lubrication to the areas furthest away what typically occurs is over-lubrication of the closer areas. With LUBtec this waste resulting in increased lubrication and cleanup
costs is eliminated.
The LUBtec system can be integrated easily within the existing mill greasing system. For an even more advanced and effective solution, LUBtec can be setup independently and
equipped with a separate drum pump and optional computer control for the individual lubrication of discrete mill stand areas. This solution allows for the use of specific types
of lubrication formulated for maximum performance under particular uses, such as the newer water-resistant lubrications intended for areas where rust typically forms. LUBtec
